Finishing up the new commission for Santa Barbara County Bowl, which is Santa Barbara’s premiere music venue, soon to be grouted and placed amongst the newly landscaped hillside leading to the open air music canyon that all Santa Barbarans have grown to love for many years. This is a memorial boulder for Rex Marchbanks, who was instrumental in helping the County Bowl as their all around man for many years. It’s been said that Rex Marchbanks was the person Jeff Bridges modeled his character Dumbowski, in the feature film, The Big Dumbowski. INLAYED STAINED GLASS MOSAIC ON BOULDER

Here’s a stained glass mosaic commission just completed for the Mc Laine family of Santa Barbara. Mosaic glass sun design inlayed into a beautiful sandstone boulder at the foot of customers front stairway. This is a beautiful and interesting way to add a little spot mosaic to a boulder, without covering the entire boulder….as I usuall do.

CACHUMA GLASS GARDEN MOSAIC

Here is a recent all glass mosaic I’ve completed, ready for purchase and installation almost anywhere. Each of these mosaic panels are made with mortar and galvanized expanded metal lath wire for the ultimate indestructiability! Can be used as or sold to you as individual panels or as a complete mural that would span twelve feet in length. Thickness is aprox 1.5 - 2 inchers. MEMORIAL BENCH

Dan Chrynko’s latest commissioned memorial bench. The Elenor Wright Memorial bench honors Mrs Wright for all her contributions and financial aid to Phoenix House of Santa Barbara and the Mental Health Community.There will be a dedication to Mrs. Wright and her family in June.

MOSAIC SURVIVES WILDFIRE

In November fo 2008 Santa Barbara had a wildfire that was fueled by Sundowner winds of seventy miles an hour. In short time, the blaze consumed over 200 homes in the Santa Barbara and Monticito area of Southern california. Two people were seriously injured and one death as a result of the fire.

Here is one of my many mosaic lizards commissioned by a customer years ago, and how it fared in their private sculpture garden, after the fire. Their home fifty feet away, burned to the ground. The metal trowel you see in the video was found not more than ten feet away from the mosaic lizard on the ground.

I am very proud of how well the sculpture held up…but then I never take short cuts on how I put my artwork together, or spare using good materials. sbmosaics@aol.com

This beautiful mosaic sign entrancing the very new, SCOTCH BONNET restaurant and bar, 428 Chapala St., Santa Barbara, is one of the latest mosaic art commissions by artist Dan Chrynko. SCOTCH BONNET serves Spanish style cuisine with a Cuban flair. ANACAPA SCHOOL PROJECT

The students entered their mosaic boulder at the Santa Barbara Fair and Exo, winning, ”the best art entry by a school from all the Santa Barbara schools.”

HANDPAINTED MISHIMA TILES

Dan has really outdone himself this time.

Here are two examples of handmade discs by master tile maker, Dan Chrynko. Top disc has a sandstone body with a mishima white porcelain slip for an etched inlay design look. Second Disc, is an example of same mishima technique, used as above, but this disc is white porcelain body with a dark colored slip used for inlay design. All of this is covered with watercolor design of high-fired colored glaze for background coloring. These discs may also be inserted into mosaic background.
