This beautiful mosaic sign entrancing the very new, SCOTCH BONNET restaurant and bar, 428 Chapala St., Santa Barbara, is one of the latest mosaic art commissions by artist Dan Chrynko. SCOTCH BONNET serves Spanish style cuisine with a Cuban flair. The 3rd photo down shows Dan with his interior mosaic bar creation titled, ”Who’s That Lady?” Video coming soon, will show interior and exterior.



This video, taken at Anacapa School in Santa Barbara, California, shows the mosaic boulder the students designed and helped build a few years ago with the help of artist Dan Chrynko. The students entered their mosaic boulder at the Santa Barbara Fair and Exo, winning, ”the best art entry by a school from all the Santa Barbara schools.”

You will see the famous “Phoenix Totem Pole,” as well as the sparkling “Blue Stained glass Frog,” and, of course, the “Phoenix Alligator,” all which were created by mosaic artist, Dan Chrynko.

Dan has really outdone himself this time.
Here are two examples of handmade discs by master tile maker, Dan Chrynko. Top disc has a sandstone body with a mishima white porcelain slip for an etched inlay design look. Second Disc, is an example of same mishima technique, used as above, but this disc is white porcelain body with a dark colored slip used for inlay design. All of this is covered with watercolor design of high-fired colored glaze for background coloring. These discs may also be inserted into mosaic background.
